Hamilton county ranks second in number of bus accidents

When it comes to public transportation, there are several options at a person's disposal today. One popular way that has existed for decades is bus transportation. Many of us are introduced to buses at an early as a way to get to and from school. However, many adults use buses as a primary mode of transportation, whether getting to work or other places.

That's why it's so important that bus drivers are safe, responsible drivers and the bus companies offer proper training and their equipment has had proper maintenance and is up to date. Failure to do this can easily result in bus accident injuries. Statistically, Hamilton county was second in the state in number of school bus accidents between the years of 2015 to 2017. There were 488 school bus crashes during those periods in Hamilton County.

This is second only to Franklin County, which amassed 691 school bus auto accidents during these years. Since school buses are carrying precious cargo, it is more important than ever that these bus accidents are avoided or eliminated altogether. 875 people, including children, were injured in those years across the entire state. Scarily enough, 4,198 Ohio drivers were ticketed for failing to stop for a school bus that was loading or unloading children. This means that other reckless drivers were driving illegally around school buses and our children.

This is a call that no parent ever wants to receive, the news that their child was injured in a school bus crash. With 488 school bus crashes in the three-year span, several parents did get that call. There are ways to find out who was negligent in these bus crashes, whether another driver or the bus driver or bus company themselves. Realizing someone could be held responsible for a child's bus accident injuries can make all the difference.
