Road ragers and aggressive drivers can cause accidents

You were driving on the freeway when suddenly a sports car flew past you twice your speed. It was so sudden and unexpected that it caused you to lose focus on the road. Because of the distraction, another car may have been annoyed by your driving and started laying down on their horn – these are all common occurrences on the road.

Aggressive or angry drivers can put other cars around them in danger because of their actions. Here are a few situations you may need to watch out for next time you’re driving:

Avoid an aggressive or angry driver

There are a few hallmark signs that a driver isn’t doing what’s best for everyone else. Getting caught in another driver’s actions could put you in danger of serious injuries. Here’s what you may need to watch for:

  • Cars that speed past yellow or red lights
  • Drivers who slam on their horns
  • Cars that take up more than one lane
  • Drivers who don’t signal
  • Drivers that break-check other cars
  • Cars that exceed the speed limit
  • Drivers who tailgate
  • Cars that trail in front of others in every lane

You shouldn’t have to feel like another driver is going to put you in danger. You may need to consider your own actions around road ragers and aggressive drivers:

  • Let the other driver pass
  • Stay calm and alert
  • Avoid focusing on the other driver
  • Limit your speed to match traffic flow

Your own action, however, may not be enough. You may still be in an accident with an aggressive or angry driver. You may then need to reach out for legal help when recovering from your losses and injuries.
