What happens if injured by an uninsured driver

No matter how good a driver a Cincinnati area resident is, an accident can still happen. It is impossible to control every other driver out on the road. Distracted driving, speeding and other dangerous driving continues to occur on our roads. When a person is injured in a car accident, they face unexpected medical expenses and lost wages. But, if a person is injured by an uninsured driver the consequences can increase.

No one ever expects they will get into a car accident, especially one that leads to injuries. Unfortunately, this happens to many people in the Cincinnati area. Usually when there are injuries in a car accident, they are covered by the negligent party insurance's company. But, what happens when the negligent party does not have insurance?

One option a victim may have is to file a lawsuit against the uninsured driver. This is usually not the best option because if a driver does not have car insurance, they also likely do not have the money to pay for another person's expenses.

A better option is usually filing a claim of uninsured driver with the victim's insurance company for their own car. There are strict deadlines an insurance company has for these claims, so it is important to understand what needs to be done in order to meet these deadlines.

A legal professional who specializes in personal injury can help their client with their injury case. They can help their client understand their legal options and help them determine which direction to go. An attorney understands their client may now be facing thousands of dollars of unexpected medical expenses, future medical expenses and lost wages and will work hard to make sure these expenses are covered.
