Two young people died after suffering catastrophic injuries in a recent motorcycle crash which happened about 50 miles from central Cincinnati. The crash took place in the early evening hours on a federal highway.
Initial reports are that two people on the motorcycle, who were in a relationship and were both avid riders, died after their bike got hit by a passenger vehicle. Police say that the motorcyclist was heading straight when the driver of the car turned left in front of the motorcyclist. The motorcyclist could not avoid the collision and slammed in to the car.
Police say that in addition to the motorcyclist and his passenger being killed, one person in the other car involved was hospitalized. That person is expected to recover from his or her injuries. Police said that both bikers who died had their helmets on at the time of the crash.
While police did not indicate that they had issued any citations and were careful not to lay fault for the accident on any one driver, they did say they were looking at a failure to yield as one of the causes of the crash. Generally speaking, drivers who wish to turn have to yield to oncoming traffic before doing so. In any event, though, this tragic accident remains under investigation.
In the meantime, two families are left without loved ones that they in all likelihood counted on for both emotional and financial support. As what really happened becomes clearer, the families of these two victims may start evaluating their legal option to pursue compensation from anyone whose negligence contributed to this unfortunate loss of life.
