An investigation is underway into a recent fatal truck accident in Ohio. Two motorcycles that had to pull off onto the emergency turnaround were hit by a tractor-trailer that drove off the side of the road. As a result, a 41-year-old female passenger on one of the motorcycles was killed, and the driver of that motorcycle was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Trucks and tractor-trailers are an essential part of the American economy, traveling thousands of miles to transport goods from one state to another. They are subject to both state and federal laws that regulate the hours a driver can drive before resting, the weight they can carry and the size of the truck itself.
However, truck drivers are under immense pressure to driver further faster, and this results in tragic and fatal truck crashes. Their sheer size means that anyone involved in an accident with them faces catastrophic injuries.
While a criminal investigation is underway into this accident, loved ones of accident victims may not be aware that they have other options for holding a careless truck driver responsible.
