Two injured in motorcycle crash

| Jun 2, 2016 | Motorcycle Accidents

Motorcyclists await this season all year round — the freedom, the wind and the sounds of nature as they maneuver their bikes through traffic now that the weather is warmer. Unfortunately, motorists who are not paying attention to the road often fail to notice the influx of motorcyclists and can end up hitting them, injuring or even killing them.

Two people in Ohio were recently flown to a hospital after sustaining serious injuries in a motorcycle crash that involved an SUV. According to the authorities, the motorcycle was traveling in the eastbound lane when an SUV turned onto the road. In order to avoid colliding with the vehicle, the motorcyclist slid the bike and the driver and his passenger sustained injuries in the process.

Due to the fact that they are on motorcycles, bikers and their passengers are not protected the same way motorists are. They are more likely to get injured in an accident and sustain severe injuries — even head injuries if the parties are not wearing helmets.

One of the most common types of crashes involving motorcycles is when car drivers turn onto a road or an intersection without paying attention to the motorbike on the road next to them. In addition to this, drivers fail to notice motorcyclists in their blind spots and can also drag them down when switching lanes.

Paying attention on the road not only to changing road conditions but also to surrounding circumstances is an essential part of driving. When this is not done, crashes and injuries may result and it may be possible to hold the negligent driver accountable for their actions in this case.
