How serious of a problem are drunk driving accidents in Ohio? From 2003 to 2012, a total of 3,367 victims were killed in drunk driving accidents in Ohio. Overall, approximately one in three traffic deaths in the United States involves a drunk driver. Ohio’s rates of drunk driving are slightly above the national average. In Ohio during 2014, 310 victims were killed in drunk driving accidents which represented a little over 30 percent of the state’s total traffic deaths. In addition, it was also an increase of nearly 15 percent from the prior year.

Also during 2014 in Ohio, there were 12,137 alcohol-related accidents involving drivers with a blood alcohol content (BAC) level of .01 or higher and a total of 7,034 injuries caused by alcohol-related accidents involving drivers with a BAC of .01 or higher. Victims of drunk driving accidents pay in many ways for accidents caused by drunk and negligent drivers. They may suffer unexpected physical, financial and emotional harm.
