Suspected drunk driver driving with flat tires

Alcohol related crashes are perhaps the most devastating car accidents because they could have been avoided if the drunk driver had acted responsibly and not gotten behind the wheel after drinking. Injuries sustained in a car accident can take months if not years to recover from physically and there is no limit on how long it may take the emotional wounds to heal.

This is perhaps how the victims of a recent accident in Ohio may be feeling in the aftermath of an accident that sent victims to the hospital for medical attention. The 51-year-old driver who caused the accident is believed to have been drunk at the time of the collision.

According to the Highway Patrol, the suspected drunk driver was driving in one direction on the road when she swerved into the oncoming lane. According to the incident report, she struck an oncoming vehicle head-on. Witnesses claim the woman’s vehicle not only had two flat tires but also ran a red light as she turned.

The victim had to be cut from her vehicle and was flown to a hospital for her injuries.

The police claim the woman may have been drunk at the time of the accident but the investigation is ongoing and charges have yet to be filed.

Whether or not the police file criminal charges, victims of a drunk driving accident may be able to file a civil suit against the drunk driver responsible for the crash and hold them accountable for their irresponsible behavior. Compensation received through a successful suit can be used not only for medical expenses related to the injury but also to compensate for the pain and suffering that results from the crash.
