Even though driving is one of the most common behaviors in which people across the country engage on a daily basis, it is also one of the most dangerous, with many people injured in accidents that could have been avoided if the reckless driver had paid attention on the road. A car accident brings trauma not only to those who were immediately involved in the accident, but also to their family members and even those who witness an especially catastrophic one.
A witness couldn’t believe the horrific events that recently caused the fiery crash she saw in Ohio. Three people died in the tragic multi-vehicle accident and 11 people were taken to the hospital to receive medical attention for their injuries.
Authorities claim the 41-year-old driver who caused the accident initially sideswiped a car and set off the fatal chain of events. He fled the scene of the accident, but not before hitting four more cars parked at the intersection.
Two of the cars involved in the accident burst into flames; three people trapped inside one car all died, including a 45-year-old, a 27-year-old and a 50-year-old.
Another car also burst into flames and trapped people inside, but a Good Samaritan helped them escape from the burning vehicle. The victims transported to the hospital are expected to survive their injuries.
Losing someone in an unexpected and sudden car accident can cause emotional trauma that takes time and sometimes even counseling to heal. Holding the reckless person accountable for his or her careless behavior is one way to get closure. A personal injury lawsuit also may make funds available to cover medical expenses and compensate the family for the pain and suffering that they have experienced.
