Catastrophic injuries suffered in car accident

An unexpected accident can have serious repercussions for all those involved, especially if one of the victims of the accident suffers catastrophic injuries. A motorcycle stunt man is under investigation for his role in a possible seventh drunken driving accident in Ohio that has resulted in severe injuries for one of the victims involved in the accident.

The 42-year-old driver was driving his pickup truck when it crossed the centerline and collided with an oncoming car driven by a 23-year-old woman. There was a passenger in his car who was partially ejected from the truck as a result of the accident. The 24-year-old man had to have his arm amputated and the woman ended up in the hospital with a concussion.

The driver has a long history of driving offenses, including drunken driving, reckless operation and driving with a suspended license. He has been arrested six times since 1990 for driving under the influence, and police suspect this may be the seventh time alcohol played a part in an accident he was involved in, as they think speed and alcohol were factors in this car accident. It is even possible that he was racing against a friend who was nearby in another vehicle at the time of the crash.

The driver had not been formally charged at last report as the investigation was ongoing, but Ohio residents should be aware that they can bring a civil suit against a reckless driver regardless of the progress of a criminal case. Though it is never possible to quantify the injuries suffered in a car accident, compensation obtained through a personal injury suit can be used to cover medical expenses and even pain and suffering caused by the accident.
