Car accidents in Cincinnati and throughout Ohio are a sad part of life. They can happen due to a reckless driver, a driver operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, through negligence and for many other reasons. When they happen, they can be severe and result in catastrophic injuries and fatalities. Those who have been involved in or lost a loved one in an auto accident need to get their bearings soon after the crash has happened to be able to make the important decisions that must be made after such an unfortunate occurrence.

A three-vehicle accident recently claimed the life of a 51-year-old woman. The accident occurred at around 11:20 a.m. when a 71-year-old man went through a red light and was hit by another car. After that collision, the man’s car ran into the vehicle being driven by the woman as she was making a left turn. When emergency personnel arrived, she was declared dead. The driver who went through the red light was hospitalized with injuries that are not believed to be serious. The other driver did not require medical treatment. Law enforcement is investigating the crash.

People who have suffered injuries or lost a loved one in a car crash might not know where to turn in the immediate aftermath. With hospitalizations, medical costs, long-term care concerns and the worry about lost income that the person who was hurt provided, it can be overwhelming. This is exacerbated if there is a fatality. In addition to funeral expenses, there will be other issues that will arise with personal, emotional and financial worries.

Individuals in Cincinnati may want to seek legal advice before accepting an offer that an insurance company makes to preclude a legal filing, as the family will not immediately know how much the total cost of the accident will be. When serious or fatal accidents occur, it is important for the victims or their loved ones to explore all their legal options before deciding how to proceed.
